Ultra-Thin Lines Challenge

I have recently started participating in the Soap Challenge Club. Each month there is a new technique or challenge that you can learn and attempt, and this month’s challenge was ultra-thin lines. I started this challenge doing the regular category to get my feet wet. My inspiration was the aurora borealis for colors (below). While the thin lines on the surface of the bars did not quite replicate what the Northern Lights looked like, I think the side of the bars turned out just right. Although I really liked this soap for the regular category, I wanted to try the extra swirl that was part of the advanced category rules.

The advanced category required a secondary swirl, but also required the use of 5 or more colors. Using the same colors from my previous soap, I added in two more: yellow and white.

I was really happy with my advanced category design. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect going in, which is part of the fun of these challenges. My end result ended up reminding me of the Lisa Frank colors (for those 90s kids).
